Le "guide
du Routard"
2006

It's nearly a social fairy tale : one upon a time, a dynamic and adorable franco-algérian couple looking for a job, who decided to take over a hotel that was escheating, outside the closed town (but less than a 5 minute walk far from it), to restore it completely and to make it work again . After several years of sweat, laughters and a few tears, Kim and Georges have managed to create a place that looks like them, that's to say it is very warm and colorfull as one could wish . Rooms with a particular charm, everything's there : a TV set, a confortable bed . That's the kind of address where you come for one night, you stay for two, and then three, because what really matters here above all is the quality of the welcome, and the good tips on the town and the region stick up on the walls, and as a free gift, Kim's nice breakfast and her infectious cheerfolness . Here is a real good address for people with a "backpacker" spirit . Fresh orange juice will be offered for breakfast, and a 10% discount from two nights spent at the hotel (exept in July and August) to "backpackers" holding the "guide du routard" of the year .

2006

Belfort has a smattering of one- and two-star hotels that are rarely full in summer, but few truly budget places. Fortunately, there is one gem. Kim and Georges, the owners of Hôtel Au Relais d'Alsace...
It would be impossible to find a warmer welcome than at the Hôtel au Relais d'Alsace. Kim and Georges, the Franco-Algerian couple who owns and runs the hotel, just might be the sweetest people on the planet. Kim has limitless amounts of motherly enthusiasm for her guests, while Georges gives better advice than the tourist office about trails to take around town. Attracting families, backpackers, architecture students, and traveling musicians from all over the world, the lobby is perpetually filled with lively conversation and souvenir pictures drawn for the owners by past guests.
Kim and Georges offer spacious rooms, all with phones and TVs, which they decorated by hand in bright cheerful blocks of pastel color. The top floor gives a prized view of the nearby Château de Belfort. At breakfast, drink fresh-squeezed orange juice as you sign your name in the guest book.
